Ipswich Fire Department Receives $18,914.68 State Grant to Improve Safety Equipment

IPSWICH — Chief Paul Parisi is pleased to share that the Ipswich Fire Department was awarded a $18,914.68 grant through the Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant Program, administered by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security and the Department of Fire Services (DFS).

The funding will support the purchase of safety equipment designed to enhance firefighter protection, operational readiness and emergency response capabilities. 

Ipswich Fire will use the awarded funds to purchase;

  • Fit Testing Machine
  • Carbon Monoxide Detectors
  • Ballistic Vests
  • Structural Leather Boots
  • EMS/Extrication Coats
  • Structural Gloves
  • Nomex or PBI Protective Hoods

These items are essential to maintaining firefighter safety and ensuring personnel are prepared for a variety of situations. The grant also covers ancillary equipment such as batteries, chargers and carrying cases.

The grant is administered on a cost-reimbursement basis, with reimbursement requests submitted by July 24, 2026.

Chief Parisi will serve as the department’s grant manager, overseeing the implementation and compliance of the grant funding in coordination with DFS officials.

“This grant is an important investment in the safety and well-being of our firefighters and community,” said Chief Parisi. “We appreciate the continued support from the Commonwealth and the Department of Fire Services.”
