As temperatures drop, the rate of carbon monoxide emergencies climbs. Heating appliances, emergency generators and snow drifts blocking vents can all contribute to CO buildup in a home, making the winter months the most dangerous in terms of accidental CO deaths. More than 500 lives are lost to non-fire related CO accidents every year in the US.
Two suspected CO deaths in Bedford, NH prompted Channel 5 to do a story on how to keep your home safe. Reporter Emily Maher reached out to our own Chief Paul Parisi.

The IFD helps Ipswich Seniors with their smoke and CO alarms. If you would like yours inspected–or need a new one installed, please contact the Council on Aging at 978-356-6650.
