Chief’s Corner

Hello, and welcome to the Ipswich Fire Department’s website page! The IFD is a combination department consisting of 19 full time members and 6 call firefighters. We provide fire, emergency medical services, hazard mitigation, technical and marine rescue, and fire prevention/education services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to our community from our headquarters station at 55 Central Street. We have a second, unstaffed station at 330 Linebrook Road that houses some spare equipment and is also used by our contracted EMS provider, ActionEMS, as a base of operations for Outer Linebrook and Rowley.

The IFD also offers car seat installation/inspection services, as well as Student Awareness of Fire Education and Senior Awareness of Fire Education information, including the installation of smoke alarms. These services are available by submitting a form on this website, by calling (978) 356-6631, or emailing Lt. Kendall Buhl at fireprev@ipswichfire.org.

We ask all members of our community to consider taking the following actions to help keep them safe:

  1. Install smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in your house. Please let us know if you need assistance with this.
  2. Check the batteries in your smoke and CO alarms,
  3. Make sure your street number is clearly visible from the street so responders can find you in the event of an emergency.
  4. Always stay in the kitchen if you are cooking. Cooking fires are one of the leading causes of fires in the Commonwealth.
  5. Never leave candles burning unattended. Always place them on non-combustible surfaces, away from curtains and out of reach from children and pets.

In the fall of 2021, our town meeting voted overwhelmingly to support the design and construction of a new public safety facility. This building will be built at the corner of Linebrook Rd and Pine Swamp Rd. Read updates on the building’s progress.

Customer satisfaction is very important to us. Our core values of Integrity, Compassion, and Professionalism are the foundation of our decision-making process. Our mission of “Serving our Community with Pride and Honor” is what we strive to do each and every day. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any of our officers if you have any questions, concerns, or compliments of our department. All are welcome. My direct contact information is listed below.

On behalf of the officers and members of the Ipswich Fire Department, thank you for visiting. It is our privilege to serve you.

Yours in fire and life safety,

Paul J. Parisi
